If the upper and lower jaw do not meet as they should, early treatment can be used to create the right bite. This strengthens the functional stability of the musculoskeletal system, encourages development of the upper jaw and improves the situation for second teeth.

Removable applicances

Early treatment is done using mostly removable appilances. Treatment is carried out in the mixed dentition phase and as the jaw shows significant growth potential this can be used to guide the direction of growth.

Oral hygiene

Our dental hygienists and prophylaxis assistants make the very best treatment and care their top priority. We support children with appropriate care, advice on healthy nutrition and sensible preventive measures.

For teenagers who no longer have their primary teeth and whose permanent teeth have all erupt, fixed braces are generally used. This allows twisted and misplaced teeth to be brought back into the correct position.

Fixed braces

The teeth are connected to ‘brackets’ by a flexible wire. This allows the teeth to be gently drawn into the optimal position. The advantages of this method are that it has little effect on speech and the teeth are in motion all the time.

Ceramic brackets

Ceramic braces are transparent and so have the advantage of being less visible and more aesthetically pleasing.

Braces for the inside (lingual)

With the lingual technique, a fixed brace is attached to the back of the teeth. This treatment is almost invisible, offering an aesthetic advantage and a high level of comfort. We use the new WIN system.

Invisalign

An Invisalign treatmentinvolves a series of almost invisible, removable aligners. With regular replacement of the individual, custom-made aligners, the teeth are brought step by step into their final position.

Mundhygiene

Oral hygiene

Our team supports teenagers in learning about good oral hygiene – with or without braces. We support our patients with appropriate care, advice on healthy nutrition and sensible preventive measures. Our professional, modern teeth-cleaning service with Airflow technology not only improves oral hygiene in general, but also has cosmetic advantages.

Orthodontic treatment can be undertaken at any age. The requirements for this are good oral hygiene and a healthy periodontium (the tissue in which the teeth sit). In childhood, corrections can be made by controlling and directing the growth of teeth, but for adults the treatment often requires a combination of orthodontic treatment and oral surgery.

Fixed braces

A fixed brace is usually used for adults. This allows twisted and misplaced teeth to be brought back into the correct position, and gaps in the teeth to be closed. The teeth are connected to ‘brackets’ by a flexible wire. This allows the teeth to be gently drawn into the optimal position.

Ceramic brackets

The colourless ceramic braces allow good cleaning due to their smooth surface. The braces are transparent and so have the advantage of being less visible and more aesthetically pleasing.

Maxilofacial surgery

With severe misalignment of the jaw, conservative treatment is generally not successful. In these cases, a surgical procedure is a solution after growth has finished. Working together with maxilofacial surgeons, the misalignment is surgically corrected after an orthodontic preparation.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to have orthodontic treatment?
It depends on the misalignment of the teeth or jaw. We recommend a first visit to the orthodontist at the age of seven or eight. An early visit to an orthodontist makes it easier to determine the timing of possible subsequent treatment.
What can I expect on my first visit?
At the first appointment we talk about your ideas, questions and expectations, and explain the services we offer. With your consent, we establish an initial diagnosis using photos, dental impressions and x-rays.
What happens next?
The next consultation takes place three to four weeks later. Here we present you with a detailed treatment plan, explain the cost structure and the planned duration of the treatment.
What are the costs of orthodontic treatment?
Costs of individual treatments differ from patient to patient. We cannot quote costs before a consultation. However, a rough estimate of the cost structure can be discussed at your first appointment.
Can adults be treated as well?
Orthodontic treatment is possible at any stage of life. Adults are very welcome at our practice, as well as children and young people.
My teeth feel very sensitive after the treatment. Is this normal?
For some time after the treatment, you may feel a little pain as a result of the teeth beginning to move. However, this should settle down after some time, and as the treatment continues it will generally become less noticeable. We recommend eating soft foods. If you are in great discomfort, you can contact us on +41 (0) 44 562 18 11
My retainer has come undone. What shall I do?
Please make an appointment promptly to have it reattached. +41 (0) 44 562 18 11
